Christian Service Awards Application Deadline:

Applicants must:

  • Be practicing Catholics registered within the Diocese of Phoenix;
  • Exemplify Christ-centered behavior through volunteer service to parish, school, and community;
  • Plan to attend a Catholic high school within the Diocese of Phoenix;
  • Be an 8th grade student during the 2017-2018 academic year; and
  • Have volunteered 100+ hours to parish, school and community between August 15 of 6th grade year and August 15 of 8th grade year

Theology of the Body Mini-Course | Humanae Vitae and the Courage of Pope Paul VI: This mini-course will walk through the actual text of Pope Paul VI’s encyclical, “Humanae Vitae”, and will look at the “majority” and “minority” reports of the “birth control commission” submitted to Paul VI advising him to change the Church’s teaching (majority report) and to preserve it (minority report). We will also look at Karol Wojtyla’s writings on person and community from lectures given in the 1970s, including his call for a special “theology of the body.”

Blue Mass for Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, and Emergency Medical Crews: Join Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted to honor those who lay their lives on the line to protect our communities daily. The names of those who sacrificed their lives this past year will be read, and a candle will be lit to represent each person.

When and where: Nov. 9, 10 a.m., at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix.

Mass and Reception for those with Anxiety or Depression: Not everyone gets cured but all can be healed. Everyone can get to a space of gratefulness and peace with the help of prayer and various mental exercises. After Mass, a reception will be held. Come to meet Patricia DeBruhl, behavioral health professional, Anne Corssen, R. N., and Fr. Bill Faiella, CSC, Psy.D. Bring family and friends. A collection will be taken for the Congregation of Holy Cross which supports St. Andre Inner Healing Ministry and many other ministries throughout the world.
