Our Parish Outreach—Reaches Near and Far...

Parish Outreach

The deadline for 2012 MSA Cause Form (click here) submissions is 09/30/2012. It is expected awards will be announced by end of October.  Cause Forms should be submitted to the Parish Office, attention, Parish Manager Dr. Honora Norton.

The outreach amount available from 2011-12 budgeted parish outreach tithing is will be determined by mid-August 2012.  Over the past three years, our parish’s Ministry for Social Action (MSA) has allocated $27,500, $16,000, $11,250 and $10,000 remaining from annual budgeted monies designated for outreach.

Parishioners were able to submit cause requests using our parish's MSA Cause Form (click here). This form is used by Ministry for Social Action to distribute parish's annual outreach tithing; once the form is completed it can be attached to an eMail to Parish Manager, Dr. Honora Norton, or dropped off at the parish office.

The parish's MSA Cause Committee reviews the submitted cause forms, does due diligence to ensure reputable non-profits are involved with the request and discern the fit of the request with the parish's mission and vision statements.  The Parish Manager handles all communications and press releases with the applicants and/or winning non-profit organizations.  See the 2011 November Courtyard Newsletter (page 5), 2010 Bulletin Article, 2009 Bulletin Article and 2008 Bulletin Article to learn about about previous MSA Cause Awards.

Our pastor, Fr. Patrick Robinson and Ministry for Social Action (MSA) thank parishioners for their weekly envelope giving.  A certain percentage of weekly giving was budgeted by our parish Finance Council as “parish” outreach tithing directed towards MSA Causes

  • During 2010-11 our parishioners/donors directed $539.063 from weekly envelopes and other direct donations as giving to outreach—to support Diocesan departmental needs, poor parishes, Diocesan Hispanic ministries; local charities, and our parish’s Family Support Fund.  Check out the parish website’s September 2011 Courtyard Newsletter for details.
  • During 2009-10 our parish directed $366,170 from weekly envelopes giving to outreach—to support Diocesan departmental needs, poor parishes, Diocesan Hispanic ministries; local charities, like listed above, and our parish’s Family Support Fund.  Check out the parish website’s November 2010 Courtyard Newsletter for details on an additional $555,569 donated to CDA, CTODP, CCHD, missions, St. Vincent de Paul, religious retired, relief services and other charities in need.
  • During 2008-09 our parish directed $314,489 from weekly envelopes giving to outreach—to support Diocesan departmental needs, local poor parishes, Diocesan Hispanic ministries and other local charities.  Check out the parish website’s August 2009 Courtyard Newsletter for details on the additional $544,034 donated as outreach to CDA, CTODP, CCHD, missions, St. Vincent de Paul, religious retired, relief services and other charities in need.

Family Support Fund

Over the several years the MSA Cause process has been separate from the Family Support Fund that the pastor manages. Anonymous donations and proceeds from the 2009 and 2010 Annual Parish Golf Outings were directed towards our parish’s Family Support Fund, a fund used to help distressed individuals and families cope with unexpected emergencies, such as, utilities, food and rent.  The Family Support Fund exists to help families in difficult and unforeseen circumstances; to help bridge the gap between income and expenses as a family struggles to make ends meet due to unexpected job loss, sudden severe health issues, familial breakdown or another difficult occurrence so unique one can't even guess what it might be. If an unforeseen circumstance hits one of our parishioners...our parish may be able to help. Contact our pastor, Fr. Patrick Robinson, if you need help and/or are aware of a parish family in need.
