MSA Activities

MSA Mission Statement:
- “To apply the Gospel to social justice issues and integrate social ministry into all aspects of parish life. (i.e. Stewardship 4-pillars)” The MSA Mission shall be implemented through prayerful and informed discernment of priorities, activities and projects actively embraced and undertaken by our parish. MSA is a team of passionately diversified and faith-filled members of the parish community who are voluntarily committed to the advocacy of Catholic Social Teaching in our parish. Meetings are held quarterly. Or as needed, and are open to all parishioners. New members are always welcomed because of the new talents and gifts that they would bring to our efforts. MSA members shall encourage the involvement of parishioners in service to each other and in volunteering their efforts to serve the needs of the poor and the less fortunate whenever and wherever such needs exist.
MSA Functions:
- Education - provide training to representatives of parish social ministries so they can help as parishioners to identify and use their gifts within the church.
- Outreach and Charity - commit to lending both our hand and voices in order to close the gap between charity and justice in our ministry.
- Advocacy - improve advocacy and church-based response to social conditions by providing information to all parishioners on the social teachings of the church and their relationship to current social conditions.
- Organizing - address issues of Catholic Campaign for Human Development and other local community projects.
- Solidarity - provide concrete opportunities to work for global solidarity.
- Communication – share information about social justice, outreach, interfaith and service projects being addressed with the parish; provide forums addressing Catholic Social Justice Teachings and/or issues.
