JustFaith Ministry

Our Christian faith extends an invitation to each of us to become agents of God’s compassion and healing in a wounded world. JustFaith Ministries empowers ordinary people and their communities to act on that invitation. Through workshops and programs, JustFaith Ministries helps participants to expand their commitment to social ministry within their faith communities. JustFaith offers practical and spiritual ways to connect with strangers, those in need and those suffering – a way, you can play a part to expand the church’s ever-broadening love for the world.  By integrating JustFaith’s social ministry in one's life, one becomes more alive, less attached to things that don’t matter, more patient, more forgiving and more generous.  All of this caught will catch you by surprise.  Won’t you consider joining this “social justice movement” by joining the our parish's JustFaith Ministry.  Contact Dr. Honora Norton at the parish office at 480-948-8370 X223 for more info or send email.

Can you participate in a nine-month intensive study of the peace and justice traditions of the Catholic faith?  Do enjoy reading  for at least 2-4 hours per week? Can you meet every week for two and a half hours, participate in retreats and experience interaction with our community’s poor and the vulnerable?  Just Faith Ministry is one of our parish’s most demanding parish ministries and your experience with it will be “nothing short of extraordinary.”

You will read some of the best books, watch compelling videos, and discuss the hardest social issues. You will listen to guest speakers, pray, laugh, cry, became friends with special peopla and at the end -  “be different.” The transformations are many and powerful.  Some even dramatic – our parish’s JustFaith participants volunteer at various non-profits (i.e. remodeled a bedroom for Catholic Charities Dignity House, support seriously ill children and their families), serve on non-profit boards, initiated fair-trade coffee sales, participate in various non-profit fundraisers and/or community projects and much more.  Many have simplified their lifestyles by buying less.  Many have become even more generous with their wealth.

The JustFaith experience of watching each other struggle, grow and change makes for strong Christian faith bonding.  Over time, participation in JustFaith leads to a lifestyle molded by the gospel values of inclusiveness, forgiveness and compassion and a desire to explore one’s own personal inner life. Prayer and action are intrinsically connected.  Our parish's Justfaith graduates have become energized and eager to be about social ministry.   This has made an impact on spouses and friends, and the larger community as well.

As a Just Faith Ministry graduate, you will join others in the parish who are initiating new social action projects and parish forums on environmental and/or social justice issues; and to assist with expanding our parish’s work of advocacy, justice, peacemaking and solidarity.  We have already a good start with our parish’s initiatives with Ministry for Social Action Cause grants, our parish’s Family Support Fund (funded by parish golf outing and 35th anniversary fundraisers), our parish’s outreach to in-need non-profits and our Lenten alms-giving programs and much more – integrating social justice in our parish’s stewardship process’s pillars of hospitality, prayer, formation and service.
