Facility Ministry

Overview:

The Facility Ministry is always stressing respect and care for our wide-variety of parish facilities – keeping our church, our parish kitchen, our many classrooms and conference sites, our other buildings, and surrounding parish properties clean and safe. Additionally, the Facility Ministry is responsible for the 100’s and 100’s of work orders that address facility custodial and maintenance needs, as well as, ministry meeting and event setup.  This work is key and top priority for the maintenance and custodial staff here at The Community of the Blessed Sacrament.  Of course, the cleaning and repair process at a large campus, and dynamic and activity-rich faith community, like Blessed Sacrament, is an ongoing, never-ceasing process.

We may be asking parishioners and/or ministry groups to join our talented parish grounds and maintenance staff, via the Facility Ministry, by stepping up to assist with basic cleaning, polishing, repairing, landscaping and other handy-person talents. Just recently our Boy Scout Troop help clean up the parish’s rectory front and back yards.  See Facility Committee and Steward's webpage for more info.

Dr. Honora Norton is is ably assisted year-round by our Facility Ministry's Maintenance and Custodial staff:

  • Jesse Bustos
  • Frank Nigliaccio
  • Laura Villazana
  • Don Alvarado (part-time-summer)

Maintenance and Development Update Summer 2010:

Thank you to our parish’s Women’s Club Scrip and Entertainment Book sales for funding the North and South parking lot surface patch, crack seal and seal coat (two coats of sealant) and re-striping entire lot including curbs is finally becoming a reality! We have chosen Young, Swenson & Cross Paving, Inc from the several firms that bid on the project. Work will begin July 12, 2010. This project should not interfere with weekend Masses. This past Fall, the Woman's Club funded the LED energy saving and Stations of the Cross accent lighting project.

Other Things in the Works:

There will be the usual summer painting, courtyard tile repair, pew touchup, tile stripping/carpeting cleaning and touch-ups done through out the facility.

Last but Not Least, Thanks a Bunch:

Thank you to our wonderful staff Facility Ministry — Jesse, Frank , Laura and Don. They work hard – every day — to keep our campus beautiful and in good repair.
