Catechetical Ministry
Forming in Faith, Equipping for Discipleship
Mission Statement: The Office of Catechetical Ministries exists to form adults, youth and children toward a lived knowledge of Jesus Christ as He is known in the Catholic faith.
Foundational Principles:
- Catechesis is ongoing and lifelong
- Catechesis is intimately connected to the liturgical and sacramental life of the parish
- The focus of catechesis is the parish community
- Programs for catechesis are complementary (completing) NOT competitive with other parish programs
- The methods used in this approach are: Relationship Building; Faith Sharing; Content Presented is Connected with the Sunday Readings (Lectionary Based); and, Discipleship Oriented (Building Skills for the Christian Life)
- Family Friendly: Catechetical Programming for children will assist the parent to fulfill their role as their child’s primary catechist
